Virtual Private Network
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection may be required to access computing resources and networks that are otherwise restricted to users who are on the QU campus. For example, access to the Payroll system is currently restricted to computers that are physically on campus. To access them from home or from a remote location securely, a user has to connect to a "VPN" system which will then encrypt all communication between their computer and the Payroll system.
By default, all faculty and staff have access to common services through the VPN. Users interested in having access to additional resources on campus should fill out the Remote Access Request form and submit it to the ITS Help Desk.
VPN clients
To download the VPN clients listed below, you must be connected to the internal QU network.
Note that files are only available within Qatar University's Campus.
Red Hat Linux 32-bit
For mobile devices, download Pulse Secure from the App Store (Apple iOS) or Android Market
Once installed, open Pulse Secure and configure it as follows:
- Open the Secure Pulse client
- Click on + to add a new site
- Make sure the "Type" is "UAC or VPN"
- Add a Name (whatever you want, e.g. QU VPN)
- For the Server URL, enter https://myvpn.qu.edu.qa
- Connect using your QU username and password
